Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicinal practice commonly used to treat pain. Thin needles are inserted at specific points of the body to stimulate nerves, muscles, connective tissue and assist with the energy flow within the patient’s body. With aim of improving overall wellness, pain relief and stress management, acupuncture is most commonly used to assist with headaches, lower back pain, neck pain and osteoarthritis. Every acupuncture session is tailored to suit the patient’s individual needs. If you have any more questions on acupuncture, don’t hesitate to give Scott a call.

Another popular Chinese medicine practice, cupping therapy is an ancient practice that aims to reduce pain, inflammation and is often considered a form of deep tissue massage. Cupping earns its name as the procedure uses either glass, bamboo, earthenware or silicone cups that creates suction on the patient’s skin. Depending on where the cup is placed, blood flow is drawn into the area to provide some temporary relief. Cupping is most commonly used to treat:
Depending on your individual needs, Scott can provide either dry or wet cupping. Dry cupping is the process of using either a flammable substance or a suction pump to create a vacuum inside the cup. This causes your skin to rise and your blood vessels to expand. Another method is wet cupping, which requires a small incision on the skin to allow small amounts of blood to be drawn out during the cupping process. It is perfectly normal for your skin to appear bruised after treatment, and the discolouration will ease after a few days.

Scott Shearim –
After spending a year working in the Middle East, Europe and Asia, Scott had a desire to dedicate his future to learning natural medicine and acupuncture. He had a vision that would give him the training he needed to be of most worth to those around him. He attained a Cert VI in Massage in 2003 and also qualified as an osteopathic/chiropractic assistant. He ran a practice on location and mobile covering the Gold Coast, whilst constantly studying natural medicine.
Graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor of Health Science: Traditional Chinese Medicine with a Major in Acupuncture, Scott gained valuable experience in an acupuncture mentorship. Scott’s love of people has led him to serve those with disabilities and special needs and he gets great satisfaction in seeing people progress. Having worked in a number of multi-modality clinics with some of the industry’s best mentors, Scott loves to see others succeed in their health goals and become the best version of themselves. Scott is now a registered acupuncturist with AHPRA, CMBA and practicing member of AACMA.
